This state-approved 76-hour program combines 60 hours of flexible online learning with 16 hours of hands-on, in-person clinical training.
Taught by experienced Registered Nurses (RNs), our program provides real-world skills, personal support, and guaranteed job placement after certification!

Course Modules

To join our Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) Training Program, applicants must meet the following qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent

  • Pass a criminal background check as required by state regulations

  • Provide proof of immunizations and a recent physical examination

 

These requirements ensure that every student is fully prepared to meet state certification standards and provide safe, professional care to clients.

Module 1: Introduction to CHHA & the Healthcare System

  • Understanding the Role of a Home Health Aide

  • Ethics and Confidentiality

  • NJ Board of Nursing Regulations


Module 2: Safety & Infection Control

  • Basic Safety Procedures

  • Universal Precautions

  • Emergency Response Skills


Module 3: Personal Care Skills

  • Bathing, Grooming, and Dressing

  • Assisting with Mobility and Transfers

  • Bed Making & Hygiene Maintenance


Module 4: Nutrition & Meal Planning

  • Preparing and Serving Special Diets

  • Feeding Assistance Techniques

  • Kitchen and Food Safety


Module 5: Communication & Documentation

  • Verbal and Nonverbal Communication Skills

  • Working Effectively with Clients and Families

  • Accurate Recording and Reporting Procedures


Module 6: Clinical Skills (In-Person)

  • Hands-on Care under RN Supervision

  • Using Medical Equipment Safely

  • Real-World Clinical Scenarios and Skill Practice

The following is a list of requirements that must be met to be enrolled and receive certification to be a Home Health Aide in the State of New Jersey:

  1. 76 Hours of training (including 60 hours of online training and 16 hours of hands-on clinical instruction)

  2. Must be at least 18 years of age

  3. Must be a US citizen or eligible to work in the U.S

  4. Pass Competency Test issued by the state
